Roberto Olender

Head of Algorithms at Evogene

Roberto Olender has a diverse range of work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and computational development. Roberto began their career in 1995 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. From there, they worked at Peptor as a Senior Scientist in Molecular Modeling from 1997 to 2002. In 2002, they joined Procognia as a Senior Scientist, and then moved on to EPIX Pharmaceuticals in 2007 as an Associate Director of Computational Development. In 2009, they co-founded HQL Pharmaceuticals and served as the CSO until 2016. Currently, Olender is working at Evogene as the Head of Algorithms, a position they have held since February 2020. Prior to this role, they were a Senior Algorithm Developer at Evogene from 2016 to 2020.

Roberto Olender has a strong academic background in the field of Chemistry. Roberto completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Militar de Engenharia, attending from 1982 to 1987. Roberto then pursued their Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute of Science, studying between 1987 and 1989. Roberto went on to further expand their knowledge in Chemistry by obtaining a PhD from the same institute, attending from 1990 to 1994.
