Michael Liniger is an experienced ice hockey professional with a background spanning over two decades. Currently serving as an Assistant Coach at EVZ since May 2023, Michael previously held the position of Head Coach at GCK from May 2019 to May 2023. Prior to that, Michael played and coached simultaneously at GCK/ZSC Lions from May 2016 to May 2019. Michael's extensive playing career includes roles as a professional ice hockey player with Kloten-Flyers from May 2007 to April 2016, as well as with SCL Tigers, where Michael captained the team from May 2005 to April 2007. Other teams include HC Ambrî-Piotta, EHC Biel/Bienne, and a strong foundation in education from NMS Bern Lehrerseminar, earning a teaching degree in primary and secondary education from 1995 to 2000.

Der EVZ ist der grösste Eishockeyklub der Zentralschweiz und darüber hinaus ein innovatives Sportunternehmen mit rund 120 Festangestellten und 520 Teilzeitmitarbeiter in den Bereichen Sport, Management, Nachwuchs und Gastronomie. Mit 14 Nachwuchsmannschaften und dem hauseigenen Ausbildungskonzept «The Hockey Academy» setzt der EVZ auf nachhaltige und langfristige Jugendförderung. Die 1. Mannschaft des EVZ spielt seit 1987 ununterbrochen in der höchsten Schweizer Liga und wurde 1998 erstmals Schweizer Meister, gewann 2019 den Swiss Ice Hockey Cup. In den Saisons 2021 sowie 2022 holte der EVZ den Schweizer Meistertitel en suite.
