Ex Populus
Sonat Karan has a range of work experience in game development and software engineering. In 2014, they had a summer internship at Teksav Teknoloji. Sonat then worked as a game developer at Twist Game Platform from September 2014 to June 2015. From September 2015 to June 2017, Sonat worked as a game programmer at Infosfer where they developed multiple hyper-casual game prototypes and two published hyper-casual games. Sonat also worked on two Match-3 games and designed and developed in-game debugging tools and a standalone level editor for Match-3 games. In 2017, Sonat worked at KeplerVR as a software engineer, where they developed a virtual reality environment for architectural students and professionals. Sonat also developed a user interface system and a converter to import .obj files into Unity. From July 2017 to October 2018, Sonat worked as a game programmer at Elite Game Studio, where they worked on porting a standalone game to the PS4 console system and created a cross-platform input system. Sonat also worked on UI development, build management, and gameplay features for an MMOFPS game. From 2018 to 2019, Sonat worked as a game programmer at Mynet. In February 2019, they transferred to Casual Monster as a game developer, where they were responsible for the whole development process of hyper-casual games using Unity and C#. Sonat also integrated third-party components into live games. From 2020 to 2022, Sonat worked at tastypill as a unity developer, initially as a unity developer and later as a lead unity developer. Currently, Sonat works at Ex Populus as a senior unity developer starting in November 2022.
Sonat Karan earned a Master's degree in Game Design from Bahcesehir University, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Yaşar University, graduating in 2015. Sonat attended Cihat Kora Anatolian High School from 2006 to 2010. In terms of additional certifications, they completed a course on "Skills for the Digital Earth" provided by Elmhurst College Online Course in 2014. Sonat also received a certification in "IOS ve Android Tabanlı Uygulama Geliştirme" from Manggis Information Systems in April 2013. Additionally, Sonat participated in Games Week Berlin in April 2015, organized by Quo Vadis - AMAZE - WOMENIZE.
