Derek Lin

Derek Lin has over 25 years of work experience in the field of data science and cybersecurity. Derek started their career at Entropic as a Member of Technical Staff and then worked at various companies such as Apple-ISS Joint Venture, Lernout and Hauspie, and InfoTalk in software engineering and research roles. In 2004, they became a Principal Architect at PassMark Security. From 2006 to 2012, Derek served as a Principal Scientist at RSA, where they developed machine learning solutions for risk-based online banking fraud detection and prevention. Derek then joined Greenplum Database as a Manager and Principal Data Scientist, leading a team and evangelizing the concept of security as a big data problem. At Pivotal, they served as the Head of IT/Security Data Science, focusing on designing analytical approaches for enterprise problems. Currently, Derek is the Chief Data Scientist at Exabeam, where they continue to contribute their expertise in data science.

Derek Lin has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Derek also holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from the same institution.
