Ian Chu

Ian Chu is an experienced bioinformatics professional currently serving as Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Exact Sciences since November 2020, where responsibilities include developing novel deep-learning algorithms for early cancer diagnosis and enhancing pipeline performance through statistical methods. Previously, Ian held positions at Exact Sciences as Senior Bioinformatics Scientist I and II, focusing on next-generation sequencing data and machine learning models to identify cancer-related genetic mutations. Prior to this, Ian worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center from October 2013 to November 2020 as an Instructor, Bioinformatician, and Data Scientist, managing large-scale sequencing data and conducting statistical models for gene expression analysis. Ian holds a PhD in Bio-Organic Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Data Science from Southern Methodist University.
