Sonya Yates

Sonya Yates is the owner of Dyslexia Therapy and Consulting, where they provide private dyslexia therapy, tutoring, and teaching training since 2015. Previously, they served as a special education teacher at Spanish Fort Elementary from 2005 to 2014, and as the director of academic support at UMS-Wright Preparatory School from 2014 to 2015. Yates has also worked as a dyslexia therapist with MSLE until 2023 and as a dyslexia interventionist/homebound teacher for the Saraland City School System from 2016 to 2019. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Education from Athens State University, a Master's degree in Education from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, and have obtained various certifications, including Instructional Leadership and Psychometry. Currently, Yates is the Associate Policy Director for Early Literacy at ExcelinEd.
