Peter Zandstra

Peter Zandstra is a prominent academic and entrepreneur in the field of biomedical engineering and biotechnology. Since July 2017, Peter has held the positions of Professor and Director at the School of Biomedical Engineering and at the Michael Smith Laboratories at The University of British Columbia. Additionally, Peter co-founded Notch Therapeutics in September 2017, serving as both Chief Scientific Officer and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board. Peter also co-founded ExCellThera and has been involved with the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine since January 2011 as Chief Scientific Officer. Prior experience includes a professorship at the University of Toronto, where Peter also directed the Bioengineering Minor program until September 2017, and an executive role with Medicine By Design until July 2017. Peter's educational background includes a PDF in Bioengineering and Environmental Health from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology from The University of British Columbia, alongside a B.Eng. from McGill University.
