Darragh Clabby has worked in the engineering field since 2009. Darragh began as a Research Assistant and PhD Candidate at Queen's University Belfast, where they completed a PhD demonstrating agreement at prototype & model scales of wave energy converter performance. Darragh then joined Resolute Marine Energy, Inc. in 2013 as a Senior Hydrodynamics Engineer. In 2015, they moved to OpenHydro as a Senior Oceanographic Engineer, where they developed a dynamic model of turbine to improve assessment of energy yield & extreme/fatigue loads, and implemented a methodology to quantify tidal energy yield uncertainty. In 2018, they became the Lead Hydrodynamics Engineer at Resolute Marine. Currently, they are a Systems Researcher at Exergyn, beginning in 2022.
Darragh Clabby holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Queen's University Belfast, obtained in 2013 in the field of Wave Energy Conversion at Prototype and Model Scales. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from University College Dublin in 2008, in the field of Design and Commissioning of the Control System for an Artificial Sky. Darragh also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) from University College Dublin, obtained in 2006 in Mechanical Engineering. In addition to their formal qualifications, Darragh Clabby has also obtained several certifications, including a Modern Application Development with Python on AWS Specialization from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2022, Machine Learning with Python-From Linear Models to Deep Learning from MITx on edX in 2020, Incorporating Renewable Energy in Electricity Grids from Imperial College London in 2020, and Probability - The Science of Uncertainty and Data from MITx on edX in 2019.
