Benoit Chabot

Dr. Benoit Chabot is a Senior Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke, where they have been a faculty member since 1988 and served as Head of the Microbiology Department from 1999 to 2008. They obtained their PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University in 1986 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital Research Institute. They have made significant contributions to the understanding of alternative RNA splicing and its implications in various biological processes, including cancer. Dr. Chabot has held various leadership roles, including the Canada Research Chair in Functional Genomics and the Pierre C. Fournier Chair in Functional Genomics, and has co-founded a biotechnology company focusing on telomere function. They are also actively involved in multiple scientific advisory boards and committees, including the RNA Society, and have been recognized with prestigious awards for their research and service.
