AI changed how software gets built. It didn't change who's responsible for it.

Today, code shows up in seconds and whole architectures come straight out of a prompt. But in most enterprises, a few simple questions get surprisingly hard to answer. Which requirement is this line of code serving? Which architecture was it meant to respect? Who approved the call the model just made? Speed went up. Control quietly went down.

That gap is where we work.

expandev is the platform for Governed AI Software Development (GAISD), a discipline taking shape across the industry and aligned in spirit with global frameworks like ISO/IEC 42001, the EU AI Act, and the NIST AI RMF. They all point to the same idea: AI is powerful, and accountability stays human.

We're not here to replace the code assistants your developers already rely on, like Copilot or Cursor. We work before, during, and after them, governing what actually gets generated. It comes down to four steps:

- Declare: your team defines the objective, the scope, and the business rules.
- Structure: architecture and data get decided before any code is written.
- Generate: AI writes code inside the boundaries you already set.
- Trace: every decision, requirement, and line stays linked, auditable, and easy to explain.

What you get is the speed of AI with engineering quality you can stand behind and governance you can actually audit. Your business rules get declared, not guessed at. Your architecture is chosen on purpose instead of inherited by accident. And any line of code traces straight back to the requirement that prompted it and the person who owns it.

We build this for teams running critical systems, working under real regulation, and shipping software with AI across many squads. The places where "the model did it" was never going to be a good enough answer.

AI executes. Humans govern.
