Rusty Newton has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Rusty'smost recent position was as a Principal Security Solutions Engineer at Expel, where they focused on providing sensible solutions to customers' security issues and supporting various security services. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Security Consultant at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where they collaborated with clients to develop custom cloud security strategies. Rusty also has experience as a Cybersecurity Architect & Engineering Manager at Deloitte, where they managed a team responsible for incorporating cybersecurity requirements into project environments. Additionally, Rusty has held positions such as Chief Information Security Officer at Tennessee State University, Consulting CISO at Tennessee State University through Ellucian, and Lead Information Security Analyst at Vanderbilt University. Rusty started their career as a Systems Support Administrator at Digium and also worked as an IT Technician at S3P Communications. Rusty has a strong background in cybersecurity, risk management, and solutions engineering.

Rusty Newton obtained a Bachelor's Degree in B.S. Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University between 2016 and 2021. In 2023 and 2024, Rusty pursued an Executive MBA in Business Administration, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Additionally, Rusty has acquired numerous certifications, including the Gremlin Certified Chaos Engineering Practitioner (GCCEP) from Gremlin in 2023, the Amazon Web Services Security Specialty from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in February 2023, and the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in July 2021, among others.
