Elan Lee began their career as the Lead Game Designer at Microsoft Game Studios in 1997. Elan worked in the Xbox group, overseeing the development and release of multiple Xbox and PC games. In 2003, Lee joined 42 Entertainment as the Vice President of Experience Design and also served as one of the company's founders. Elan was responsible for creating innovative and clever experiences for clients. In 2005, Lee founded Edoc Laundry, where they served as the Interaction Director. Elan embedded secrets and hidden messages in the clothing line sold by the company. Lee then went on to found Fourth Wall Studios in 2007, serving as both the Founder and Chief Designer. The studio focused on creating immersive stories that extended beyond traditional media, incorporating websites, live events, and interactive elements. From 2013 to 2014, Lee worked as the Chief Design Officer at Xbox Entertainment Studios. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Executive Officer at Exploding Kittens, Inc., a company that specializes in the production of games combining kittens, explosions, and laser beams, which became the most backed crowdfunding project in history.
Elan Lee pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology from 1994 to 1997.
