Explorations Company was founded in 1989 by Nicola Shepherd as an extension of her passion for Africa and its wildlife. Since then, the company has evolved to specialise in luxury safaris and highly bespoke holidays to Africa, Asia and Latin America.

We create extraordinary journeys built around a simple belief: the most meaningful travel begins with understanding. By taking the time to get to know our clients as unique individuals and combining that insight with deep destination knowledge, unrivalled access and boundless creativity, we craft experiences that have a meaningful impact on both those who travel with us and the people and places they visit.

Philanthropy has always been at the heart of what we do. When you choose to travel with us, we will contribute 1% of your trip budget to projects and initiatives that make a positive impact on the places our clients explore, helping to conserve wildlife, protect habitats, support local communities and safeguard traditional cultures and beliefs. We’re proud to say we’ve raised over $5 million across more than 100 projects and initiatives so far. For more information on the projects we’ve helped fund, please visit our website.

Behind each of our journeys is our team of travel specialists. True experts in their craft, most have over 25 years’ experience within the industry and many have either grown up, lived or worked in the regions in which they specialise. Their knowledge and experience – combined with our exclusive network of contacts around the world – allow us to bring a level of customisation and creativity to holiday planning that’s virtually unmatched in the UK today.
