Ailís O'Carroll

Head of Scientific Community Engagement & Programme Management

Ailís O'Carroll, Ph.D., serves as the National Open Research Support Officer for the National Open Research Forum at the Digital Repository of Ireland and is currently the Head of Scientific Community Engagement and Programme Management at the National Sport and Science Centre of Ireland, Explorium. Previously, Ailís worked as the Communities and Programme Manager at eLife Science Publications and was a PhD researcher at UNSW Australia and the University of Queensland, focusing on immune response and viral infection mechanisms. With a Bachelor of Science in Immunology from Trinity College, Dublin, Ailís has extensive experience in biotechnology, microscopy techniques, and scientific communication. Ailís is also a co-founder of the Single Molecule Science internship program, aimed at fostering collaboration between Irish and Australian universities.
