Amal Jayapalan began their work experience as an Engineering Intern at Cochin Port Trust in 2003. From 2006 to 2013, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and later as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2014, Amal joined Exponent, initially as a Senior Engineer and later advancing to the position of Managing Engineer in April 2020.
Amal Jayapalan obtained their education in the field of Civil Engineering. Amal completed their B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, from the year 2000 to 2004. After that, they pursued a master's degree, earning an MSCE from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2006 and 2009. Amal continued their academic journey and obtained a PhD in Civil Engineering from the same institution, completing it from 2009 to 2013.
