Principal Scientist at Exponent

Caroline Harris has extensive experience in the field of scientific research and expertise in pesticides. Caroline worked at Exponent from 2001 to the present, starting as a Centre Director and Principal Scientist before becoming a Principal Scientist. In their role at Exponent, they are involved in research and leadership. Caroline has been a member of the Expert Committee on Pesticides since 2020. Prior to that, they were a member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) since 2000. From 2013 to 2022, they served as a member of the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products, and the Environment (COT). Caroline was a member of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides from 2010 to 2016. Caroline started their career at the Pesticides Safety Directorate in 1986 as a SO/HSO/SSO/Principal Scientist until 2001. Before that, they worked at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs as an Assistant Scientific Officer from 1980 to 1986.

Caroline Harris received a PhD in clinical medicine from the University of Leeds, where they attended from 1997 to 2004. Prior to their doctoral studies, they obtained an MSc degree in analytical chemistry from Birkbeck, University of London, which they completed from 1988 to 1990.
