Charles Menzie

Principal And Past Practice Director Ecosciences at Exponent

Charles Menzie has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental sciences. Charles started their career as an Environmental Biologist at LMS Engineers in 1971 and later joined EG&G Environmental Consultants as the Director of Environmental Sciences, where they managed a group of scientists and focused on oceanographic issues and hazardous wastes. In 1983, they founded Menzie-Cura and served as its President until 2008. At Menzie-Cura, they developed a remediation technology for sediments called SediMite. In 2006, Menzie joined Exponent as a Principal and Past Practice Director EcoSciences, where they focused on environmental risk assessments, causal analysis, chemical fate and transport analyses, and aquatic and terrestrial ecology. In 2008, they co-founded Sediment Solutions LLC. From 2014 to 2020, Menzie served as the Executive Director of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC).

Charles Menzie began their education at Annunciation, where they completed their graduate studies in visionary thinking from 1958 to 1963. Following this, they attended Archbishop Stepinac High School, specializing in biology and graduating in 1967. Menzie then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Manhattan College, from 1967 to 1971. Continuing their academic journey, they attended City University of New York City College, earning a Master of Arts and later a Ph.D. in Biology, both in the period of 1971 to 1974. Menzie's education culminated with their Ph.D. in Biology, specializing in the general field, from City University of New York Graduate Center, which they completed from 1973 to 1978.
