Duane Steffey

Principal Scientist at Exponent

Duane Steffey has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Duane started their career in 1981 as an Associate Scientist at Westinghouse Electric Company, where they worked until 1983. In 1988, they joined San Diego State University as a Professor of Statistics, a position they held until 2006. In 1992, Steffey joined the National Academy of Sciences, where they served as a Study Director until 1995. In 2004, they joined Exponent, Inc. as a Principal Scientist, and they continue to work in this role.

Duane Steffey's education history began in 1977 when they enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University for their Bachelor's Degree in History/Mathematics. Duane completed their undergraduate studies in 1981. Following that, they pursued a Master's Degree in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, which they obtained between 1983 and 1984. Duane then continued their education at Carnegie Mellon University, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Statistics from 1984 to 1988.
