Joel Wilson has over 18 years of work experience in various engineering roles. Joel started their career as an ESA-DE Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Los Alamos Laboratory in 2002, where they gained hands-on experience in mechanical design. In 2003, Joel worked as a Product Design Engineering Intern at LeapFrog, contributing to product design projects.

Joel then pursued their Ph.D. at UC Berkeley from 2002 to 2007, researching and designing a head-mounted display integrated inside a firefighter's face mask as part of the FIRE project. Joel also led a team in creating an Incident Commander interface and tracking first responders using a wireless sensor network. Following this, Joel worked as a Postdoc at UC Berkeley in 2008, further developing the FIRE project and guiding new students in research and demonstrations.

Since 2008, Joel has been working at Exponent as a Managing Engineer, specializing in the analysis of vehicles and mechanical systems. Joel provides expert advice on accident reconstruction, product liability, and crashworthiness.
