Additionally, in 2004, Malima also received another S.B. degree, this time in Mathematics.
Malima's pursuit of knowledge didn't stop there. Malima went on to earn a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 2011. Their dedication to their field is evident in their academic achievements.
In addition to their formal education, Malima obtained several certifications over the years. Malima became a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI) in May 2018. Furthermore, in June 2016, they became a Professional Engineer with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering, as recognized by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Professional Engineers and of Land Surveyors.
Malima also holds an Engineer-in-Training certification from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, which they obtained in October 2009.
Outside of their engineering career, Malima has diverse interests. In 1999, they received a certification as a Master, 100 GT Near Coastal from the United States Coast Guard. Additionally, in 1994, they became a certified Open Water Diver through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
