Michael Prange

Principal Engineer at Exponent

Michael Prange has a strong background in human injury biomechanics and occupant kinematics. Michael started their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Pennsylvania, where they conducted research on head injury causation in children and developed computer models for head injury prediction. Michael then worked as an Engineer at Exponent, analyzing injuries and reconstructing crashes involving vehicles and consumer products. Michael later joined Duke University as a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, focusing on orthopedic and injury biomechanics. Currently, they are a Principal Engineer at Exponent, where they specialize in head and neck injury tolerance, pediatric biomechanics, and occupant kinematics. Michael'swork involves analyzing injuries in transportation accidents, incidents involving consumer products, and various accidental and inflicted injury scenarios.

Michael Prange obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Engineering from North Carolina State University, which they attended from 1992 to 1996. Michael then pursued further education at the University of Pennsylvania, where they earned a Master of Science in Engineering degree in Bioengineering from 1996 to 1999. Michael continued their academic journey at the University of Pennsylvania and completed their Ph.D. in Bioengineering from 1996 to 2001.
