Dr. Samuel Lawton is a Senior Scientist at Exponent, specializing in energy storage devices with a focus on failure analysis and quality assessment. They have diverse experience in the design, testing, and failure mode analysis of lithium-ion and prototype secondary batteries. Prior to their tenure at Exponent, Dr. Lawton served as a Research Scientist at OXIS Energy Ltd, where they developed Li metal anodes and polymer protections for enhanced cycle life. Earlier, they held the position of Polymer Analysis Research Technician at Warwick Polymer Research Technology Platform, conducting extensive materials analysis. Dr. Lawton earned both a PhD and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Warwick.
