Troy Morgan has a strong background in civil/structural engineering, risk analysis, and energy and transportation systems. Troy started their career as a Design Engineer at Forell/Elsesser Engineers from 2000 to 2004. Troy then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research (PEER) Center from 2008 to 2009, where they conducted research on seismic isolation and passive damping systems. From 2009 to 2012, they served as an Assistant Professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, teaching graduate-level courses and conducting research on high-rise buildings' structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Senior Engineer and then advanced to Managing Engineer at Exponent, providing technical consulting services in various areas. Troy continued to progress within the company, holding roles as Senior Managing Engineer, Principal Engineer, and currently serves as the Director of Buildings & Structures Practice. Additionally, Troy Morgan has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering from 2013 to 2020 and at Columbia University in the City of New York starting in 2022.
Troy Morgan obtained their B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998. Troy then pursued a M.Eng. degree in Structural Engineering with a minor field in Economics from the same university, which they completed in 2000. Later, Troy earned their Ph.D. in Structural Engineering, focusing on Probability and Statistics as their minor field, from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007. Additionally, Troy holds various certifications as a Registered Professional Engineer in several states, including Connecticut, Alabama, New York, Georgia, New Jersey, and California.
