Alex Pires

Alex Pires possesses extensive experience in international business development and technical leadership, currently serving as a Senior Technical Advisor at Export Development Canada since April 2016. Prior to this role, Alex Pires was the General Manager for a large international project at AlexPires International Inc., offering consulting services from March 2009 to March 2016. Between April 2007 and January 2009, Alex Pires held the position of Director of Silicon Development at Nortel, overseeing major ASIC/FPGA developments globally. As R&D Director at Zarlink Semiconductor from October 1996 to October 2006, Alex Pires managed a multimillion-dollar R&D budget and led a team of over 30 engineers. Alex Pires began their career as an ASIC Design Engineer at CPqD - Telebras from February 1984 to October 1996, focusing on telecom applications. Alex Pires holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, earned between 1979 and 1983.
