Dongwook Shin

Dongwook (DW) Shin is an accomplished AI Engineer with extensive experience in various roles within the AI and data science domains. Currently employed at Expression as an AI Engineer since September 2025, Dongwook previously held the position of Senior AI Engineer at SecondWrite, where the focus was on developing a DARPA-sponsored malware detection system. Prior to that, Dongwook worked as an AI Scientist at Avodah, Inc., designing a system for billing code determination using machine learning techniques. As a Principal Data Scientist at Research Innovations Incorporated, significant contributions included developing a DoD-funded analytic engine and a Large Language Model, among other projects. Dongwook also led an AI/NLP team at IDS International, working on innovative persona/content generation systems and hate speech detection. Earlier career experience includes research roles at the National Library of Medicine. Academic credentials include a PhD/MS in Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University.
