Sameer Batla is an undergraduate researcher at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba, focusing on Type 1 Diabetes in the Thompson Lab, where a study was conducted on DNA damage-mediated senescence and its effects on human islet extracellular vesicle secretion. Previous experience includes serving as a high school tutor at St. Paul's High School, working as a reception staff member at Revera Inc. during summer employment, and holding various leadership roles within the Interdisciplinary Health Program Students' Association, including Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Council Student Representative and Director of Senate Relations. Currently employed as a Recreation Aide at Extendicare Heritage Lodge, Sameer assists in developing and facilitating recreational programming for long-term care residents. Sameer is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, expected to graduate in 2026.
