Principal Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering at Extra Space Storage

Nathan Waldrop has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Nathan began their career at Exante Bank Inc as a Customer Service Rep, where they provided research and reporting services to upper management and trained call center staff on call-tracking systems.

Nathan then moved on to work at Optum Bank, where they initially served as a Business Analyst. In this role, they led project teams, implemented DMAIC and DMADV project methodologies, and achieved significant cost savings. Nathan also designed and built a system that resulted in a substantial increase in revenue. Nathan later transitioned to the position of Application Developer, where they developed ASP.NET web applications and contributed to streamlining business processes. As a Senior Application Developer, they contributed to the design and testing of various projects and implemented secure solutions for critical business processes.

Nathan then joined SunGard Financial Systems as a Senior Software Implementation Engineer. Nathan designed, developed, and tested multi-tiered web applications, improved all tiers of the application, and customized products for specific client needs.

Currently, Nathan is working at Extra Space Storage, where they have held several positions. Nathan began as a Senior Software Engineer and progressed to become an IT Manager, overseeing a team of software engineers and focusing on code reviews, industry best practices, and automated pipeline tools. Nathan then became a Site Reliability Engineering Manager, establishing a new team and implementing application performance monitoring. In their most recent role as a Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering, Nathan focused on gathering agile delivery metrics and enhancing CI/CD pipelines.

Throughout their career, Nathan has consistently demonstrated expertise in software development, project management, and process improvement.

Nathan Waldrop has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science from Weber State University, which they earned from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they attended Salt Lake Community College from 2009 to 2010, where they obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Computer Science. From 2007 to 2009, Nathan Waldrop attended the University of Utah, majoring in Computer Science. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in November 2020, and the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification in November 2018.
