Vinesh Jha

CEO and Founder at ExtractAlpha

Vinesh Jha has a long and impressive work experience. Vinesh started their career in 1997 as a Quantitative Analyst at Salomon Smith Barney Holdings Inc. where they researched multifactor strategies for equity allocation among 46 countries and maintained the SSB Global Asset Allocation model. In 1999, they moved to StarMine as the Director of Quantitative Research. In 2005, they joined Merrill Lynch as a Proprietary Trader, where they led the firm's efforts to develop and implement low- and mid-frequency quantitative market neutral equity strategies in all developed markets. In 2007, they joined Morgan Stanley as an Executive Director of Process Driven Trading (PDT Partners). At PDT, they did quantitative research and helped to strengthen the in-house quantitative research infrastructure. In 2013, they founded ExtractAlpha, an independent research firm dedicated to providing unique, actionable alpha signals to institutional investors. In 2017, they became an Advisor at Sandalwood Advisors Limited, China's first alternative data platform. In 2021, they stepped in as the CEO of Estimize upon Estimize's merger with ExtractAlpha.

Vinesh Jha has an educational background that includes a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge (1996-1997), a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago (1992-1996), and a high school diploma from Lexington High School (1988-1992). Additionally, Jha has obtained three certifications from the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute in 2021, including Paper 2: Regulation of Securities (November), Paper 7: Financial Markets (August), and Paper 8: Securities (August).
