James Mckelvie

James McKelvie is a highly experienced ophthalmologist currently serving as the Clinical Director at the New Zealand National Eye Bank since February 2023. James holds dual roles at The University of Auckland as an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer within the Department of Ophthalmology, alongside contributions as an Honorary Lecturer. Additional positions include Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and anterior segment at Te Whatu Ora Waikato, Director at Hamilton Eye Clinic, and member of the Medical Advisory Board at EyeQue Corporation. As a Section Editor for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology journal, McKelvie also has a background as a Senior Medical Officer at Auckland DHB. Previous experience includes a corneal and refractive fellowship at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and extensive research during a corneal fellowship at The University of Auckland. McKelvie's educational credentials comprise a PhD, MBChB, BHB, and BSc (Hons) from The University of Auckland, gained between 1998 and 2015.
