Eyesea is a nonprofit organization with a mission to map global pollution and maritime hazards. Without proper data on maritime pollution – what and where it is – effective solutions are hard to find. In 2020 we developed the concept of using geotagged pictures to chart (‘map’ for you landlubbers) maritime pollution. Funding and support have been obtained, and our mapping solution is currently under development.

Those who work and play on the ocean care deeply about its health and future. Seafarers, members of the public, recreational sailors, professional mariners, fishermen, surfers, and divers all have unique access to the coast, littoral waters, the vastness of the ‘blue water’ ocean. Anyone with access to the beach can keep an eye on its health. As a community, we can help map and identify pollution simply by taking a picture through the Eyesea App.  Images are important because they are quick and easy to take, and because they have a strong impact.

The Ambassador Team at Eyesea is dedicated to fostering community engagement and raising awareness about maritime pollution. Comprised of passionate individuals who advocate for ocean health, they mobilize local communities, educate the public on the importance of data collection through the Eyesea App, and encourage individuals to document pollution via geotagged images. Their efforts help expand the reach of Eyesea's mission and contribute vital information for mapping and addressing environmental hazards.
