Robert Princenthal, M.D., is a board-certified radiologist with more than 25 years of expertise in diagnostic medical imaging. Dr. Princenthal serves as the medical co-director for RadNet’s Prostate MRI Program. He attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. His internship was completed at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Yale University School of Medicine at New Haven Hospital and a fellowship in body imaging and interventional radiology at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Princenthal has a range of responsibilities, including leading the Women’s and Men’s Imaging Departments. Dr. Princenthal has seen the difference in patient outcomes that an early, accurate diagnosis of cancer provides. This is why he has been instrumental in bringing some of the most advanced, cancer detecting technologies, including Prostate MRI, to Ventura County patients and referring physicians.

Dr. Princenthal’s experience in early detection for various cancers encouraged him to explore improved imaging options to detect cancer unique to men. In 2009, Dr. Princenthal was mentored by Peter Choyke, MD (NIH) and Jelle Barentsz, MD, (Holland) the leading experts in Prostate MRI. The knowledge he gained from these world-renowned physicians propelled him to bring the latest prostate imaging techniques to Ventura County.

Currently, Dr. Princenthal is a consultant to GE Healthcare to improve their prostate MRI 3T imaging protocols. He is also a consultant to Invivo, and has helped establish a MRI/TRUS fusion program utilizing UroNav for a major urology practice in Beverly Hills. He has read more than 3,000 prostate MRI studies. He also has numerous prostate MRI publishing credits. He continues to be an advocate and educator of men’s health by giving lectures across the country.
