Michael Gao

Michael Gao has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Michael is the Founder and CEO of Fabric, where they are focused on building the world's first cryptographic computer. Michael is actively hiring DV engineers, cryptographers, and hardware architects for the company.

Prior to Fabric, Gao was the Cofounder and Chief Strategy Officer of Luminous Computing, a photonic AI hardware startup. Michael played a key role in assembling the founding team and creating the vision for the company. Gao also defined the product strategy and high-level architecture, leading the way from AI workloads to microarchitecture tradeoffs. Luminous Computing raised over $130M in funding, and Gao contributed to the company's success through their patents in photonics.

Before Luminous Computing, Gao was the Cofounder and CEO of AlphaSheets. Michael led the company from its inception in 2015 until 2018. Prior to that, Gao was involved in the cryptocurrency industry as a sole proprietor. Michael started with Bitcoin at the age of 15 and grew their investments to over 12,000 BTC by 2013, mining and investing in GPU mining farms and the first ASIC Bitcoin hardware company in the world.

Michael Gao's education history includes attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2015, where they focused on Applied Mathematics. In 2016, they participated in the Y Combinator program and obtained the "Fellow W3" degree. Additionally, from 2012 to 2014, they attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.
