Mary Stack has a strong background in environmental consulting and sustainable tourism. Mary worked as an Environment Officer at Fáilte Ireland from 2007 to 2012, where they provided training, conducted research on sustainable tourism, and supported businesses in improving their performance. Prior to that, they were a Senior Environmental Consultant at Mott McDonald Pettit from 2000 to 2007. In this role, they managed large-scale projects in the tourism, energy, construction, and engineering sectors and also served as the Head Internal Environmental Reviewer for project proposals.

Mary Stack attended Presentation Secondary School, Listowel, Co. Kerry from 1990 to 1995. Mary then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Environmental Science at the University of Limerick from 1995 to 1999. Following this, Mary continued their education and completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning at The University of Manchester from 1999 to 2000.
