Michael Barber

Michael Barber has extensive work experience in the technology and finance industries. Their most recent position was as a Senior Principal Software Engineer at FanDuel, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Paddy Power Betfair, where they held roles as a Distinguished Engineer from February 2022 to July 2023, and as a Principal Developer from August 2017 to February 2022.

Before their time at Paddy Power Betfair, Michael worked at RFM as a Fixed Income Specialist/R&D from March 2011 to July 2017, where they were responsible for product development and implementation in the LDI and fixed income space. Michael also conducted quantitative analysis and modeling tasks.

Michael's previous experience includes working as a Director/Quant Developer at Duality Systems from September 2009 to March 2011, where they developed trading applications and financial models. Michael also conducted research in machine learning and equities markets. Michael worked as a Quantitative Software Developer at Deutsche Bank from July 2007 to September 2009, focusing on developing and deploying algorithmic trading software.

Additionally, Michael's earlier roles include working as an Integration Engineer at Standard Bank from October 2006 to June 2007, and as an Integration Engineer/Risk Analyst at Riskworx from September 2006 to June 2007. Michael also worked as an Electrical Engineer at Mintek from February 2003 to August 2006, where they developed software for automation and control systems.

Michael Barber completed their BSc in Engineering (Electrical) (Information Option) from the University of the Witwatersrand between 1999 and 2002. Michael also obtained a Nanodegree in Deep Learning from Udacity in 2018. In addition, they completed their Matric from Greenside High between 1994 and 1998.
