Sofia Aakko is a biomedicine PhD with expertise in hematology and oncology. They completed their doctoral thesis on microRNA-mediated regulation of mitosis and drug sensitivity in cancer in December 2017. From 2018 to 2022, they worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), focusing on improving acute myeloid leukemia treatment. Sofia also held roles as a senior researcher at the University of Turku, where they developed combination treatments for triple-negative breast cancer. Currently, they serve as the Scientific Lead in Clinical Operations at Faron.
