FastFeetGrinded developed a process to recycle used shoes for new uses, such as sports floors, shoes and other products. Sports and play can now literally be done "on" old shoes.

Every year, 12 trillion pairs of shoes are produced worldwide (2010 Lougborough University UK). Most of these shoes end up as trash in a landfill, with all the consequences that entails. Think of a growing landfill and polluted groundwater.

Initiatives that collect used (sports) shoes sell or donate them to developing countries. Apart from the fact that the shipping is often not very ecological, the shoes also end up in a landfill or pyre there. Only 5% of the total shoes produced are currently recycled (World Footwear 2005).

Recycle
FastFeetGrinded therefore developed an innovative process to disassemble the returned athletic shoes into different parts. The recycled material must be obtained as pure as possible for recycling. By grinding the shoes, we separate different materials that can be reused. We resell these materials to producers to fund our recycling process. They are FFGRD RUBBER, FFGRD FOAM and FFGRD FIBER.
