Benjamin Young has a diverse work experience in technology and engineering roles. Benjamin started their career as a PC Support Specialist at Antioch Public Library District, where they gained experience in Windows Server, Active Directory, IIS, Exchange, and PC repair. Benjamin then worked as a Linux System Engineer at Next Thing Co., a startup, where their responsibilities included board bringup, software engineering, release management, and CI/CD. Afterwards, they joined Business Wire as a Platform Engineer, where they played a key role in migrating infrastructure to Amazon Web Services using CloudFormation and implementing a development strategy for deploying Docker containers and Lambda functions. Benjamin then became an Infrastructure Engineer at News Direct Corp., where they designed a scalable and resilient cloud-first infrastructure using AWS technologies. Currently, they are a Software Engineer at Fastly, working on distributed applications at the edge, specifically on the Beta Object Store written in Rust and running in wasm runtimes distributed across Fastly's global data centers.

From 2006 to 2013, Benjamin Young attended McHenry County College, where they pursued an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance.
