Staff Software Engineer at Fastly

Daniel Kegel has a diverse work experience in software engineering roles. Daniel started their career in 1999 as a Senior Developer at Disappearing Inc, where they designed and implemented a secure messaging server with various features. From 2001 to 2003, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Ixia, where they took the Ixia Linux SDK from a prototype to a finished embedded Linux platform. At Google, they served as a Staff Software Engineer from 2003 to 2010. In this role, they contributed to the development of various projects. From 2012 to 2020, they worked at Oblong Inc. as a Senior Platform Engineer. Here, they set up CI for multiple projects, automated build/release workflows, and ported build systems. In 2020, they joined Signal Sciences as a Senior Software Engineer, and later that year, they moved to Fastly as a Staff Software Engineer.

Daniel Kegel earned their Bachelor's degree in Engineering & Applied Science and Biology from Caltech. Daniel completed their undergraduate studies at Caltech from 1980 to 1986.
