Richard Madden

Richard Madden has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology industry. Richard joined Fastly in 2023 as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer. Prior to that, they worked at Wayfair from 2014 to 2023, where they held the position of Senior Staff Engineer. During their time at Wayfair, Richard worked on a wide range of projects, including DC migrations, multi-region failovers, API design, Cloud migrations, and system design. Richard also had experience with distributed systems, caching systems, CDN work, SQL optimization, software stability, and incident triage. Richard was involved in automation, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and utilized various tools such as Jenkins, Github/gitlab, Salt, Docker, and Elastic Search. Before joining Wayfair, Richard had internships at AVTECH Software, Inc. as a Software and Firmware Engineering Intern and at Vovici as an Intern. Richard also worked as a Web Developer at The Boston Globe and Zocalo Consulting in 2013 and 2012, respectively. Overall, Richard's work experience showcases their expertise in multiple aspects of software engineering, system administration, and web development.
