Thom Mahoney

Thom Mahoney is an experienced software engineer and architect currently serving as a Senior Principal Engineer and Principal Architect at Fastly since September 2014. Mahoney has successfully achieved efficiency goals for worldwide compute clusters, improved resilience in globally distributed systems, and promoted engineering standards while coaching early- and mid-career developers. Notable contributions include serving as Incident Response Manager, designing public-facing HTTP APIs, leading the development of a Web Application Firewall product, and developing an audit logging system. Prior experience includes software engineering roles at Engine Yard, The Little App Factory, and Element K, as well as a desktop support role at Rochester Institute of Technology, where Mahoney earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
