Tom Chappell has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Tom is currently working at Fastly as a Principal Software Engineer, where they have contributed to the design and implementation of the Decision Engine for Fastly's new secure@edge product. Prior to joining Fastly, Tom worked at Signal Sciences, where they held the role of Staff Software Engineer. During their time there, they designed and implemented speed improvements to the agent Decision Engine used by their web application firewall. Before that, they worked at Gravity.com as a Senior Software Engineer. Tom also has experience at Alcatel-Lucent as a Staff Software Engineer, where they served as the Project Lead for OmniVista 3.1 and Framework lead for OmniVista, a Java-based software platform for managing enterprise networks. Tom has also worked at Arcada Software and Quest Development as a Principal Software Engineer, and at TouchStone Software as a Co-Founder, where they were involved in the development of various software products.

Tom Chappell attended California State University-Northridge from 2004 to 2006, where they studied Computer Science. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2004, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University, Northridge. Going further back, Tom attended Georgia Institute of Technology from 1974 to 1979, majoring in Information and Computer Science.
