Tony Yates

Tony Yates is an accomplished economist with extensive experience in both academia and public policy. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor at Fathom and a Research Associate at the Resolution Foundation since 2019, Tony's previous roles include Professor of Economics at the University of Birmingham and Reader in Economics at the University of Bristol. Tony's expertise in monetary policy and econometrics was further developed during a long career at the Bank of England, where advisory roles focused on monetary policy strategy, including unconventional approaches at the zero lower bound. Tony also contributed as a National Expert to the European Central Bank and holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mathematics from the Open University, and a Master’s in Labor and Industrial Relations from LSE.
