Head of Catastrophe Modelling at Fathom Global

Malcolm Haylock's work experience includes a range of roles in the fields of catastrophe modeling, risk modeling, research, and climatology. Malcolm is currently the Head of Catastrophe Modeling at Fathom since March 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Risk Modeling at Global Parametrics from January 2021 to February 2023 and as a Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant from May 2018 to December 2020. From November 2018 to December 2022, they held the position of Managing Director at Sunstone Risk Solutions. In their earlier career, they worked at Aspen Re as the Head of Research and Development from January 2015 to January 2018. Malcolm also served as a Senior Researcher at PartnerRe from April 2007 to November 2014 and as a Senior Research Associate at the Climatic Research Unit, University of East Anglia from May 2002 to March 2007. Malcolm's experience also includes roles as a Climatologist at the Bureau of Meteorology from 1998 to 2002, an Experimental Scientist at CSIRO Division of Atmospheric Research from 1990 to 1995, and a Geophysicist at Geopeko from January 1988 to December 1989.

Malcolm Haylock's education history includes earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and Geophysics from the University of Melbourne from 1985 to 1987. Following that, they pursued an Associate Diploma in Jazz Studies from NSW Conservatorium of Music from 1988 to 1989. In 1995, Malcolm obtained a Graduate Diploma in Music Technology with a focus on Audio Engineering and computer music programming from La Trobe University. Lastly, they completed their highest level of education, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Statistical Climatology from the University of East Anglia from 2002 to 2004.
