Ekkehard T. has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Ekkehard started their career as a Quality Assurance Officer at Sylvania Lighting in 1984. Ekkehard then worked as a Werkstudent at Siemens in 1986 and later became a Foreign Language Assistant at the London Borough of Bromley. In 1988, they worked as a Translator at Saatchi & Saatchi and also served as a Studentische Hilfskraft at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

In 1990, Ekkehard joined Xenofile Ltd as a Translations Manager before moving on to various positions at The Open University. Ekkehard worked as an Editor in Technology and Modern Languages, Project Manager in Technology and Media Account Manager in Maths, Computing, Technology. Ekkehard then became the Head of Project Management and Residential School Director. From 2015 to 2017, they served as a Commissioner in STEM.

In 2017, Ekkehard joined FCDO Services as the Head of Central Planning, responsible for providing secure services to the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) and other UK government departments. In 2022, they took on the role of Head of Portfolio.

Ekkehard also worked at the Cabinet Office as a Project Manager for the COVID-19 Ventilator Challenge's wrap-up phase in 2020.
