Pierluigi Failla

Pierluigi Failla, PhD, has a diverse background in various roles related to data science and artificial intelligence. Pierluigi currently holds the position of Director of AI at FDNA since July 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Machine Learning at Keyless from September 2020 to June 2023.

From April 2018 to August 2020, they served as the Leading Data Science & AI at Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri, where they led a team of talented data scientists and focused on solving complex problems and implementing AI strategies.

Before that, from September 2016 to March 2018, Pierluigi Failla was the Head of Data Science at Enel, leading a centralized team to provide data science capabilities throughout the company. Pierluigi also provided guidance and mentoring to the team.

Earlier in their career, they worked as a Data Scientist at Compass Inc. from October 2014 to July 2016. Pierluigi also held the position of Technical Product Manager at Terranova Software from June 2013 to July 2014.

Pierluigi Failla began their career in research and advanced system design at ELETTRONICA S.p.A. Pierluigi held the positions of Functional Architecture Designer and System Analyst from September 2010 to May 2013.

Pierluigi also pursued their PhD at the Department of Information Engineering (Siena) from October 2007 to September 2010, focusing on privacy-preserving processing of biometric templates through homomorphic encryption. Additionally, they were a Visiting PhD at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University from June 2009 to December 2009.

Pierluigi Failla, PhD obtained their PhD in Information Engineering from Università degli Studi di Siena from 2007 to 2010. Their field of study focused on Signal Processing in Encrypted Domain and Data Security. Prior to their PhD, they also completed a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Computer Science Engineering at the same university from 2005 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Pierluigi Failla also acquired several certifications. In 2019, they completed the "Deep Learning AI Techniques for Executives, Developers, and Managers" course offered by NobleProg. Pierluigi also holds several specializations from Coursera Course Certificates, including "Mind and Machine," "Reinforcement Learning," "Software Product Management," "Strategic Management and Innovation," and "Executive Data Science." These certificates were obtained in different years, with the most recent one obtained in April 2020.
