Jolien Berbé

Jolien Berbé has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Jolien started their career in 2014 with an internship at CASA, an Indian development and humanitarian organization, where they conducted research and assisted with project effectiveness. In 2014, they also volunteered at 11.11.11, a coalition of NGOs and solidarity groups in Flanders.

In 2016, Jolien joined Fedasil as a Social Worker, where they followed up on asylum procedures and provided psychosocial support to unaccompanied foreign minors. Jolien continued in this role until 2017.

Jolien then transitioned to the role of Communications Officer at Fedasil in 2018, where they were responsible for internal and external communication. Jolien later became a Project Officer, focusing on local partnerships related to the voluntary return programme. In this role, Jolien supported the management and policy development of the CONEX program and conducted trainings for organizations and services in contact with migrants. Jolien held this position until 2022.

Jolien Berbé obtained a Master of Science in de Agogische Wetenschappen from Vrije Universiteit Brussel between 2011 and 2013. In 2014, they pursued a Bachelor of International Cooperation for North-South Relations at UC Leuven-Limburg, completing their studies in 2015. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2011, Jolien earned a Bachelor of Social Work with an Option in Social Work and Social Care from UC Leuven-Limburg. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as the Vijfdaagse basisopleiding overheidscommunicatie from Kortom vzw in February 2019 and completed the "Infocycle" program offered by the Belgian Development Agency in 2014.
