Backed by IndieBio and SOSV, Fermeate is the first startup in the world to apply optogenetics and photomolecular gene circuits to microbial based biomanufacturing. Photomolecular gene circuits open a new era in biomanufacturing. Essentially, software-like level of control, and fast on/off switching that allows biology to live up to the ideal of “programmability.”

At Fermeate, we are committed to making sustainable bio-based products cost-competitive. By integrating optogenetics, advanced hardware, and AI/ML algorithms, we pioneer optogenetics for biomanufacturing, and our platform empowers partners to significantly improve their fermentation economics, delivering dramatic gains in titer, rate, and yield.
