Paul Tobin

Paul Tobin currently serves as the Tech Lead and Engineering Manager for Machine Learning at Fetch Rewards, a position held since March 2021. In this role, Paul oversees teams focused on Product Matching, Product Catalog, and Location Intelligence, specializing in the development of NLP models like BERT and sentence-transformers to enhance receipt data processing. Additional responsibilities include developing algorithms and infrastructure for approximate nearest neighbor search, optimizing backend and machine learning systems for real-time deployment on AWS, and improving data quality through LLM-based systems. Prior to Fetch Rewards, Paul worked as a Machine Learning Engineer and an Engineer in Structures at Pratt & Whitney from July 2017 to August 2020, where structural design and analysis of jet engine turbomachinery were key focuses. Paul holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
