Loren Kirkby

Loren Kirkby has worked in the technology industry since 2000. From 2000 to 2003, they were a Software Developer at ACD Systems, where they worked on the ACDSee photo management application. In 2003, they joined PiXPO, Inc. as a Senior Software Developer and was the 4th employee at the small startup company. Loren was responsible for developing the Windows desktop application, networking, P2P streaming, video transcoding, and more. From 2006 to 2009, they were the Lead Engineer at DivX, Inc., where they led engineering for all DivX desktop software (Windows & Mac) and DivX Connected, a set-top box for streaming DivX content to the TV. In 2009, they became the Chief Architect at Dropcam, where they designed and built much of the Dropcam technology stack. In 2014, Dropcam was acquired by Google's Nest Labs, and Kirkby became the Sr. Staff Engineer at Nest, where they integrated Dropcam technology and teams into the Nest organization and defined the roadmap and led R&D for future camera products. In 2016, they became an Executive in Residence at Bolt and a Digital Services Expert at the United States Digital Service. Loren is currently the CTO and Co-Founder of Fi - HQ.

Loren Kirkby graduated from the University of Victoria in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
