Fiction on the Web is the internet’s longest-running online short story magazine, championing original fiction from 1,000–10,000 words since 1996. Founded in the UK and run by a global editorial team, we publish compelling stories across genres—always free to read and always free to submit.

We offer personalized feedback on every submission, maintain some of the fastest response times in the literary space, and nominate standout work each year for major prizes including the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and the Foofs. Fiction on the Web also hosts an affordable professional critique service, providing developmental feedback for writers year-round.

We are dedicated to accessible storytelling, elevating emerging voices, and fostering a warm, writer-centered community.
